The Round Rock, Texas native will enter the 2024 season as the Bulldogs’ starting quarterback
RUSTON – Louisiana Tech Jack Turner was named to the watchlist for the 2024 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, announced by the organization on Wednesday.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award is given annually to the best Division I football offensive player who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell. In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas high school and/or played at a Texas junior college or currently played at a Texas DI four-year college.
Turner, a native of Round Rock, Texas, will be LA Tech’s starting quarterback in the 2024 season. He has played in 11 games as a Bulldog over the past two seasons, including four starts in 2023.
The redshirt junior completed 84 of his 148 pass attempts last season for 1,017 passing yards and five touchdowns. In his first career start at LA Tech, he threw for a season-high 292 yards and a touchdown at Nebraska. He started the next three games during CUSA play, including a win at UTEP.
Turner and the Bulldogs open the season on Saturday, August 31 against Nicholls at Joe Aillet Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
